Hey guys Im looking to start modifing my 2010 G37 sedan, auto trans. My thinking is some intakes and a HFC. I love the sound of the stock exhaust but I want it a bit louder and this is what I have been told to do.

On top of that it is supposed to have a decent gain in power. Whats the gain I could expect? I know every car is different but what is the average?

I went with R2C intake and love it! The build quality is great and the install was a breeze. The engine sounds as it should now ;)

For the exhaust, I looked into doing Tanabe mufflers...but decided against messing with it. The OEM exhaust note sounds good.

Also, I did the NAV bypass and added an aftermarket subwoofer. MUCH better overall sound now! The NAV bypass allows you to change settings while the car is moving. It was a pain to not search music on the HD or make changes to a destination while moving...Search the forums for the specifics. I did a write-up on the bypass and lots of helpful info on the sub.

I dont have NAV in the car but do have the Bose system. Its definitely everything I need for a stereo. I do love the OEM exhaust note, definitely one of the all time best, but I wish it were a little louder.

I have sold a ton of the R2C intakes and also run one myself.

Here is the best deal you are going to find right now, period.

The upgraded black nickel finish.

Any idea what kind of power gains that intake system gives?

a g37 member from another board ran a dyno comparison and it made 15-17hp over stock and more than the stillen gen 3.

Wow thats a bit more than I expected. Would this require a tune?

Any idea on power gains from a HFC? Which of the two do you guys think would be a better first mod?

Intake + HFC will probably net you about25-30 whp for the G37.

HFC generally get 12-15WHP.

Intake will be easier to install and RED_DET is the man. The HFC cost about the same but installation is harder so if you don't do work yourself it will cost more.

The two together would make decent power but a tune would be recommended to maximize power. Hfc bit more in price for probably same gain.

Im not to worried about the labor for an intake or exhaust. My last car was a 06 WRX and I switched exhausts on that thing a few times. The lack of a down pipe off the turbo should make the HFC install much easier than Im used to.

So going without a tune isnt bad for the car? I will probably get it tuned some time but Im just worried about not blowing up the engine.

Yes going without a tune could be detrimental. I would do one or the other first then see where you want to go from there.

You talk about the R2C intake. Is that the best one that is recommended. Anybody have any problems with it? Any other suggestions on brand?

R2C and Stillen are the best options. If it were me, I'd get the R2C. The Stillen is good - but I think the R2C is better.
