Hi, I recently put and S15 SR20DET engine, 6 speed transmission, new driveshaft, and a helical differential on my 1995 240SX. I put a lot of money into the swap, and I don't want to risk losing it. What is a good company for custom parts insurance? I want to fully insure the car and the swap.

You can try Hagerty or Grundy but good luck.

I'm in NY and they said my s13 vert w/ SR was "too likely to be stolen" when I claimed $19,000 value (yes that's a stretch but receipts added up).

And then they said "we don't insure cars valued under $10,000" when I told them it was worth $9500.

But in some states it seems you can get a decent policy so give it a shot.

I tried Hagerty. They will insure me for $12000 for $1800 a year.

So $150 per month. Ouch. I suppose if that was rock solid "give-me-a-check-for-12k-no-arguments" it would be barely acceptable. I pay $120 /month for my 2010 Sonata daily driver full coverage thru Allstate (good driving record too). NY ain't cheap.

I have seen some quotes around $350 for 6 months, but there are mileage restrictions and it has to be parked in a locked garage. That would work for me, but they "declined to provide coverage".

Good luck!

Geico insures modified cars. Every time I insure a new 240 they ask if there is any modifications and what my estimated value it. Of course I blurt out priceless have you ever tried bying one not riced out or hacked from a child getting ahold of it. Then I tell them 4000 and they dont argue with me. I pay 86$ a month for full coverage.
