Hi, I just turned 16 and have been looking into buying a 240. My mom seems to think that it is considered a sports car and i wont be able to afford the insurance. It will be my first car so I assume the insurance will be high reguardless. I will be on a policy with my dad who has a 95 chevy truck. (if that makes any difference) Basicly what im getting at is what do you think the insurance cost will be. What was the price on some of your first cars. Thanks, I appreciate you reading my rant lol.

dido on the fact that your gonna pay alot. its just something you gotta do. it should help if your on the same policy as your dad, but that depends on alot of stuff. theres places online where you can get a free quote from different companies, try that

Will the car be in your name or your dads? If its on his policy it should be lower than if you were on one by yourself, especially if its in his name and he lists it as his secondary vehicle. Thats how it was with me but I'm not a agent. I would just go get an estimate from your agent

A 240 is cheap to insure. It's even cheaper to license/tag.

It beat out my dad's 96 cherokee and 97 volvo 850. IT IS NOT CONSIDERED A SPORTS CAR.

The 240 is not a sports car, nor is it even close to being considered one in it's stock form. It's a 15 year old econobox really.

Insurance should be normal, if not cheaper than your average car, due to the age of the vehicle.

Being on a policy with your parents will help to diffuse the premium, as you'll see the benefits of multicar discounts, multidriver dispersement, and other multi type things, as well as increased spread of risk for the insurer. I would suggest going on with your parents. Hell, I'm 23, and since I'm still living at home saving, I'm on my parents policy for the savings.

Depending on your and your parent's credit, driving history, insurance history, et cetera, you could expect to pay as little as $50 a month and as much as $600 a month.

I had to do it -- there's just not enough information here to know. Call five insurance agents and start asking questions.

Why are you asking us this question? This question can easily by answered by having your mom, or dad, calling the insurance company and asking them how much it would cost for a 240SX to be added.

Also I pay $40 a month for full coverage. :P

I'm 21 and I had my 89 coupe insured(PIP only) with a no-name joint for 157 a month last year. This year when I went to renew my ins. the agency found a Progressive 6 month policy and I now pay 70.63 monthly- and this is after I've had in 2 accidents(in 3 days, but only 1 was my fault) and 3 tickets. They told me it was lowered because I have prior insurance history now, if fact they were even able to lower it more because I don't have a job.

PS. Progressive originally wanted to charge me close to 300 dollars a month when I first got my 240.
