Ive purchased a 1990 Q45, fantastic piece of work, love the thing to death. Originally its breaks were shot, the engine had trouble getting started, etc so it was quite a steal on my part (600 bucks. Everything else fine. Invested 400 and its newer then new)

Anyways ive just gone and checked to see how much this beast is going to cost in insure, i figured meh older car parts are not nearly as expensive as the more modern counterparts... the results are insane. The insurance costs are just waay to high for me right now. Do you guys happen to know of any place I could go to get a better deal on insurance for this car, my company (and he gave me higher rates at 3 others) just over estimates the costs involved in this thing

Anyways im a full time student, and a member of the army national guard. I figured this would be enough to take a chunk out but apparently that dosnt even dent the costs involved here

Advice anybody?

If you in the National Guard check USAA for insurance. They quoted me $45 a month for liability only and roadside assistance (I honstly cant justify full coverage for a car that would be totaled in nearly any acident). Im still a student on scholarship in NROTC and 22 years old, but I dont have any tickets or wrecks either. They are geared to work with people in the military anyway, and so far there customer service has been excellent.

Is there anything major between your 92 and my 90 that would change the rates? Colorado is one of the best places to find insurance from what ive seen. I havnt logged on to get a quite from the USAA yet (will probably tomorrow) but ive got some rather strange quote (we are talking $150+ for this infiniti, others said that they wouldnt even cover me regardless if I was driving this car)

Ive checked about 30 different places, $102 was my best so far. Almost any other car gets me anything from 30-80

EDIT:Thanks for the reply however, I had hoped there would be something geared towards the military. Ive had quite a few things come cheaper in life thanks to being enlisted and I figured if everything else was, maybe car insurance would be too

For the most part, USAA is the best. I've been with them for 22+ years and have not been able to beat their price or service. They are not open to everyone from a car-insurance perspective, so go to their webpage (usaa.com) and validate your eligibility..

Im valid for everything, if I can find my drivers license I would fill out the form to get the quote right now :P(snow in colorado, i dont intend to go out at 12:30 am in it :P)

Thanks for the second audtatious. Tomorrow I will check the rates, hopefully the birthday up and comming will help out a few bucks also. Ive got a couple weeks before I need insurance so I will keep shopping but I will be sure to post what sort of rate im getting and why

Anyways, anybody ever find lower rates then found at USAA? 45-60 is more what im looking for

I pay ~~$270 per year for $300,000 liability + UIM + Medical.Guess not having a claim in 16 years and no tickets in 20 helps. Under 35/single is always a problem.

I am 39, married and the wifey is older . We pay about $260 per month for full coverage on Layla, Lola, IceT, Taz(2000 Corvette convertible), and liability on Gracie (1962 GMC truck).

I am considering dropping the full coverage on Layla & Lola, since their value has dropped so much lately.

Miata you only have liabilty on a 97' Q45? Do you have any idea how much these puppies cost to fix? I had someone nail mine 2 years ago in a parking lot and didn't exactly leave a note. They smashed my bumper and broke the holds on the headlight cover...4 grand to fix it. I would not sleep well without collision myself on a 97', especially since I have gone through pains to take care of it.
