I am angry. Just got my first insurance bill for my car since i swithced from 89 to 97 240. Was paying $217 a month, full coverage, now paying $349!!!! And thats for only one car!!! This is reason number 1,023,381 that drinking and driving is a bad idea. Got a ticket 3 years 9 months ago and my agent sais its still coming up on the records. (BTW i wasnt drunk, just underage, blew a .05)Im shopping around for insurance today and noone can beat that price.

Now on top of all this, gas is still up to a whopping $2.17 in my area.

How is anyone supposed to drive around here. CALIFORNIA SUX.

:firedevil just venting, throwing a couple of numbers out there.

I want to know who thinks they pay the highest insurance, toss me a few numbers, so i dont feel so bad. mine comes to $4188/year

California is a beautiful state, too bad it sucks *** when it comes to some **** like the government or the EPA...LOL. I still miss it. San Diego owns me!!!!!!!!

I was born and raised in Pasadena. I moved up to San Luis Obispo a few months before I turned 18, and then got stuck here.

Anyways, a big part of insurance costs is where you live. My parents saved thousands of dollars in insurance costs just moving out of LA. Less people here, less traffic, less chance of getting in an accident.

Also, DUI and related offenses stay on your record for seven years, so it looks like you've got a few more to tough out.

I'm not going to put what I pay for insurance because you said you want to see high prices to make you feel better, and I think mine would have the opposite effect.

Check with AIS if you haven't yet. They're an insurance broker and work with about 20 ins companies. They'll input your info to their computer and give you the best rate that comes up. Everyone I know has saved a ton of money, though no one's had a DUI, so I don't know how much that'll impact your quote. Give them a try.

Crap man, I feel for you. My dad pays my insurance since I paid cash for my car. Only Liability though :/ I think I am going to up the coverage and just pay the difference. I dont feel safe driving w/ just liability. But one reason your insurance is so high is because the car is so new. The newer they are, the more they are!

yeah, but after 3 years companies will consider you again. I tried today with mercury, got a lower quote, but they wont write me because A) the DUI itself, and B) i work at a business with an alchohol liscense.

AAA wouldent even speak to me after i told them ive been off suspension for a little over 2 1/2 yrs. said it had to be 3 or more

I'll look into upping my coverage. People suck at driving, especially in this town...

not to be a killjoy, but be careful how you got a policy if you did not list yourself as a driver. Particularly if they asked for all driver's in the household and your dad signed the form acknowledging that all drivers were listed. They likely wil not enforce it, but there is potential to revoke a policy if they determine they would not have written the risk for that premium had they known about you as a driver.

As far as insurance rates just being high in CA, don't blame CA. You have many choices. You can choose not to drive. You can choose to get a lower risk car. And you did in fact choose to drink while underage. You have noone to blame but yourself. =)

And the highest rate I've seen(I work automobile claims) was a 19 year old, with a WRX when it first came out. About $5000 every 6 months. Must be nice to have rich parents who don't care. And if that doesn't make you feel better, I don't know what will.
