I just turned 25 and have state farm. They offer several ways to get discounted car insurance. Such as good student discount, which I get b/c I am finishing up my Masters Degree. In addition, they offer a discount for watching a 20-30 min video and answering a questionnaire. If you are not in school and do not want to watch a simple movie, I would go with Geico or Allstate.

Mercury quoted me the lowest rates: 106/mo. i'm 23 and I received a 15% disc. for having an engineering degree, if not the rates would have been about 140/mo.

AAA is also a good company to call. They quoted me 120/mo, but with more benefits like towing, getting you free rides from parties if you're drunk (no joke on that one), discounts for many restaurants and hotels for having AAA.

Decided to go with Mercury for the lowest rate.

I called esurance, geico, general, progressive, allstate and farmers and they all wanted to bend me over with rates over 200 per mo.

i have nationwide... they are great and all my friends are jealous..... my buddy was just quoted 200+ on an acura TSX and i pay $343 every 6 months.... w/ excellent coverage and $500 deductibles.... i have 1 ticket and they totaled out a car for me last year... still only $343 every 6 months... before that was $85 a month for the Z... all you can do is call around... if you still live with your parents or use their address for mail (pretending you live there) you can put the car under their insurance and you as a driver and you will save even more... they recently changed the rules on if the cars in your name it has to be insured by you, but now if you still live at home you can put it in mom & dads name on insurance - one of my friends lives in a house that everything is in his moms name but she doesn't live there and he pays rent to her so he gets that deal!

Tard. Not all companies do anything like that.

I'm 22 and have statefarm full coverage with a $500.00 deductible and I'm at about $250.00 a month.I have 1 speeding ticket on record, and my mom totalled my last car so I had to make a claim. If you still live at home, try and be put under your parents plan. They can get a multi-vehicle discount. With statefarm, at least my local office, they only base the rates on age/ value of vehicle/ and safety features. According to my insurance agent they no longer give discounts for the "defensive driving" courses. The only thing kind of like that is not having any tickets/ accidents, and getting the good student discount.

Here's the best advice I can pass on to all you under 25 that are in the same boat as me (just got this from my insurance agent who will lower my ins from 106/mo):

Final result: I will get full ins for 67/mo. (prob the 15/30 with 1000 deduct.)

How to get there: Ask for a group plan with your mom and dad (YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE AT HOME, IT'S BS if you hear that, I own my own home, haven't lived with my parents for the last 4 yrs).

(What the group buy means is that all three of you in the group can drive each other's cars and be covered for each one.)

The catch: Either your mom or your dad have to own a car that is let's say not too new or high performance. In other words a piece of ****, or the one with the lowest insurance.

Here's the scenario with a clear example:I drive the Z (from previous quote ins = 636/6mos)Dad drives a old Tacoma (ins = $150/6mos)Mom drives a new Pilot (inso = $400/6mos)

The above would be the typical setup for most people because everyone normally is the primary driver of their car. But whose to know who the primary driver is???

So this is what I did per my agent's recommendation:Mom stays primary driver on her Pilot (insurance doesnt change)Dad become primary driver for the Z (ins = $402/6mos)I become the primary driver for the Tacoma (ins = $175/6mos)

So quick math I save $636-$402=$234/6mos and my dad's ins goes up 175-150=25/6mos. I guess I'd rather pay him an extra $25 and maybe a lunch every six months to switch his primary driver position with mine so i can save $209 every six mos.

Hope this helps. Remember the key words: Group Buy Insurance and Primary Driver for the right cars

NOTE: If you're parents are loaded and each drive a viper and a vette, then you're SOL

i'm 21 and with state farm and the cheapest they could go was 350/mo..thats on my parents plan. I suggest not living in louisiana if you want cheaper insurance. or not having 2 fender benders on your record...either one.

wow I guess I'm just f cked living in AZ. All these insurance co. you all mentioned I've tried (except nationwide) and they all quote me at 200+ a mo. I am a student with a above a 3.0, a girl, and even took defensive driving when I was 16 and still they quote me at that much. I usually try to keep my limits at 100/300, 500 deductible, maybe I should just get lower limits or a higher deductible

Yeah I would multiply the deductible x 2 and get the next lower coverage limits. That should give you what you need off the note.

Well then your insurance company $ucks balls. Every single company I talked to offered a good student discount that applied to a 3.0 or higher GPA and took off no lower than $200.00 a year..........

I have Wawanesa insurance. I also took advantage of the group buy deal however, with myself as the primary driver for my POS tacoma, and my 350z, I pay $447 annually for the truck and $768 for the Z, that's full coverage with $500 deductable. The only catch is that they're based out of California and Washington. Whether or not they'd insure you if you're out of these states is beyond my knowledge, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

How are the windows tasting richie?

Being in my 30's kicks @$$!!!

I'm 33, married, and have State Farm. I pay $756 annually ($378/6 months) for my insurance. I wasn't happy with the standard coverage, so I bumped it up to 100/300/100. Yes, that is Collision/Comp/ Uninsured/Underinsured, towing, rental car, the whole package. When I had the standard 25/50/25 my annual payment was $624 ($312/6 months).

I can't imagine making a $350 payment per month for insurance.
