I bought my first Skyline on Monday and want full coverage on it. Ive contacted most if not all the insurance companies in the area and all I can get is liability. Ive read of people in other states getting full coverage based on stated value. So my question is are there any Skylines owners in NC with full coverage and what company?

I'm from VA try State farm or progressive, but you might not be able to because the age of the car. Just get the car appraised and get it insured for as much as you can. Just some ideas, good luck!

Thanks SPOOL. So if I have it appraised then I can get it insured for that amount? Even if the company only offers liability?

I own a body shop, and this is just my opinion, but here in Ct., Progressive and State Farm are 2 of the worst insurance carriers I have dealt with. I see them try to short-change and weasel out of proper repairs on regular auto claims, I would hate to see what they would do when dealing with a skyline. Maybe it is different from state to state, but be aware!

I can recommend USAA, and Chubb. Very easy to deal with and genuinely concerned with repairing your vehicle properly. Chubb is geared towards higher end clientele, and USAA, you usually have to be linked to the military somehow. Good luck!

Getting insurance is one thing, but using your insurance is a different ball game.

The company has to be able to offer stated value. Just call and ask, similar wth old classic cars or hot rods. Whenever you need a higher value for a older car.

Hagerty quoted me just $588 a year with excellent limits by classifiying a gtr as an exotic. Just agree on the value.

I went through Progressive to insure mine but they will only do liability? I dont know if this is just a NC issue or not. I did talk to State Farm and they said they would do agreed value for full coverage and fairly cheap too. I have asked both Progressive and State Farm if there are rules in NC not allowing full coverage on Gray market vehicles and have gotten mixed answers. Anyone know for sure?

here in wisconsin american family insurance was the only place i could find to insure a jdm supra and a skyline. they classified them as exotic cars and because all body parts and rarity of parts have to come from japan. the cost for full coverage for me was $1700 every six months. and thats not because of a bad driving record. a usdm tt supra only cost me $500 every six months for full coverage. maybe its just a wisconsin thing not sure. but i know its not cheap.
