I was searching the forum for something and noticed a lot of Q's about various lights out. So here it is. The biggest cause of these problems is the light control switch mounted on the steering column (turn signal arm). If you take it out you will see a little plastic panel that will pop off, under there is 4 contacts. If you play with the switch control you will notice the contacts will open and close depending on the switch position. Use some fine grit sandpaper and run it between the contacts to clean off years of carbon buildup (electricity class: when the contacts get close before touching there is a possibility for electricity arching, this causes carbon deposits which are nonconductive if enough has built up it will stop working) Use some bulb grease between the contacts to prevent further buildup. The hi-beams are controlled by a sweep switch, if you look down the shaft of the switch arm you can see the contact down there. I haven't attempted disassembly but a little bit of carburator cleaner and work the switch back and forth to break up the carbon worked for me. Then treat it with bulb grease as well.
