I've been on an instrumental metal kick as of late and was just wondering if anyone knew of any other bands I should look into. Here's what I've been listening to lately...

Animals as Leaders
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... mfzWpp0hMc

Karma to Burn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... xGD45SK08o

Dysrhythmia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FM2WLLGijc

Pelican (This one takes a little while to get going)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 8pSkEpItdk

I'd post this in the music forum, but it doesn't get much traffic. And I don't know why my YouTube embeds don't work, but if a mod could fix it or something, that'd be greeeeaaaaat.

Check out "Scale the Summit", they're a fairly unknown instrumental metal band but they're extremely talented. I was lucky enough to see them open for "The Human Abstract" and the blew everyone out of the water.

My favorite song from them is "The Great Plains". I'd post the YouTube video for you but I'm on my phone and it's not a super awesome fun time IPhone.

You might also like "Explosions in the Sky", they're not an instrumental metal band they're a Post-Rock band but they play a little heavier. Their melodies are just haunting to listen to.

My favorite song from them is "Greet Death".

Hopes this helps dude. I also hope more people post some instrumental bands I've never heard of.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I've heard Explosions in the Sky, but Scale the Summit is new to me. Here is a link to that song you were talking about for anyone else...

Check out Chimp Spanner from the U.K. I like this one for some of the synth touches, reminds me of the old playstation game Einhander for some reason:

He started out as a one-man band sort of deal and now has a band backing him and is touring Europe right now.

That Scale to Summit song sounds really good. Good call Scrap Metal. Heres something pleasant and similar.

Im really looking for something heavy tho, but not crazy deathy unsyncronized random drum and guitar.

Animals as Leader) I liked this more and more as it went on. Good.

Karma to Burn) That was a completely random video but it sounded pretty good.. not bad

Disrythmia) Didnt like this. Someone needs to tell the drummer to put a shirt on. Also, live just doesnt cut it for me unless Im there. Live CDs and cover songs just dont do it justice.

Pelican) Meh, I think it was alittle too bassy and alot sounded the same.

I have to say I really liked the first one though. Are there any like just straight instrumental bands out there? :couch

Still one of my fav songs of all time. I has words in it (great lyrics!) but it has its instrumental moments, and I consider it an instrumental. Skip to 1:30 or just listen and enjoy.

You realize that, without pics, you'd still be an alt, right?

The top is always up on her miata. This doesn't allow anyone to see her in her safety bubble.

Look up any of the 29384902384092384093284093284093 side projects Dream Theater has done. That number might be plus or minus 5, I lost track.
