HELP!!!

Today I got down to cleaning and fixing my J30. The cigarette lighter wasn't working, so I checked the fuses and it was blown. It was a 15A and I didnt have any others, so I put a 10A there for now and it works.

BBBUUUTTT...

As soon as I turned the car on after I changed that fuse the instrument panel lights (speedometer, gas, temp) AND climate control lights didnt light up but stereo, headlights, dome lights, check engine, low gas, etc. (lights below speedometer) still worked... WTF!!!

I checked every fuse and they all looked good (I think, it was dark by then and I was hungry/tired/dirty/frustrated/piles of laudry still on floor)!!! Tommorrow im gonna check again cuz I cant drive at night, but what could have caused this???

PLEASE HELP!!!

PS Sick Forum! this is my first post even though ive been on here for a while, life gets hectic... will update with pics, car info etc. soon

Always use a tester on blade fuses, but a common fail-point for J30 dash lights is the level control rheostat, up there on the dash were it gathers up all that nice dust. You might try canned air, contact cleaner, or yank it and check for the famous Infiniti poor solder joint.

Im willing to bet that if you hit the dimmer switch ont eh left side of the wheel it will solve your problems.

Ive been playing with the dimmer and it hasnt worked... All the other lights are good, just the ones connected to the dimmer. Im gonna take it apart today and check to see if the wires broke apart.

just a question is your headlights stuck in the high beam as well because i had the same thing no lights radio worked ect.... it ended upbeing that when i was looking at the fuses i put one in the wrong place you will notice that there is one spot in the fuses were its like a fuse skip two spots and a fuse well i put it in the wrong one really look over your fuses not just if there good but look at the top cover and make shure you put them back in the right spot thats what happend to me

I do have a question about the fuses b/c in mine, all of them except the glove light fuses are filled up... including the ones where on the diagram thats on the inside of the fuse covering has empty spaces!!! Are those basically spares that arent doing anything?? If yes, what circuit are they on?? Does anyone have those diagrams???

I dont have my digi camera right now, im going to Kragen for fuses and then home, ill post pics tonite or tommorow.

I got fuses and was able to replace the incorrect ones, but still no lights...

So I guess I have to take it apart. Anyone have diagrams of the dash piece there? Hopefully i can get it done tommorrow.
