I finally got the chance to take apart the dash and check out the dimmer. I wasnt able to find anything wrong with the wiring, connections, or anything else... Is there a way to check if the dimmer switch itself is broken other than hooking it up to another J30? Does anyone have expirience, directions or pics that might help???
Next I went back and checked ALL the fuses again, and I think I found the problem. The "Glove Box" fuse was blown when the lights first went, so I replaced it (7.5A). When I went back and checked today, it was blown again. So I replaced it (7.5A) again, turned the lights on and... it blew again immediately.
So, I am wondering since it blows right away whether putting a stronger fuse, i.e 10A, might work or if that could fry everything. Or, maybe something on the circuit is putting undue power??? I could give a F about the glovebox light itself, but I have a feeling they're connected.
I REALLY hate going to the dealer, but Im gonna have to real soon if this doesnt get fixed. The majority of the time I drive is at night, of course, and I absolutly love having no idea how fast Im going and how much gas I have... Frustrating is a massive understatment.
PS I have fuses in slots that according to the fuse guide are non-functional (blank)... I assume they cant hurt so i left them but is there any reason extra slots are filled??? Could they have anything to do with this???
