Hey guys, I have an '89 240SX that is buggin me.. I reviewed all 7 pages of posts in the audio section here, and while some topics have been close to my dilemna, none have been identical. I just took out what I assume to be the stock stereo (Clarion radio) and installed a Kenwood cd changer. The cd player works exactly as it should, all 4 speakers work and it sounds fine. However, the lights in the instrument panel, heater panel area, and from what the police just told me, the tailights are all not working. I have found a rough wiring diagram that shows 2 illumination wires, a negative, and a positive that I do not know where to put. Has anyone ever been through this, or have a wiring diagram that I could look at? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You have an illumination wire back there. If you blow the fuse it will kill the dash lights and your parking lights. check the fuse if it's blown, and make sure that wire behind the radio isn't shorted.

you might want to check your ground wire. make sure it is grounded to a ground wire and not an illumination wire. if there is no ground wire to ground it to, ground your head unit to the chassis. after you get your ground wiring sorted out, check for your blown fuse and replace it.

How did you do the install... cut and splice or with adapter plugs.. I am asking because for my pioneer stereo in my 91 all I did was unplug the stocker and tap into power and constant .. my ground is to chassis under and behind the heater controls...gotta love self tapping screws..anyway.. my lights are fine without anything plugged into the old radio harnesses there are three...but I also am not using the stock speaker leads so I didnt need any of the plugs..

But I agree with J-Z .. chekc your grounds first
