This is for a 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe

So, you want to replace your dash speakers with new ones, but you don't know what to do? Here are instructions on how to remove the dash speakers. I did this over the weekend. It was a BIG PAIN, but with small hands and some agony, I got it done. hehe

1. First, you have to pull out the rubber from the door area to be able to remove the trim easier. I tried doing it without removing the rubber and it was hard.

2. Next, you can pull out the trim. Start from the top. You have to be firm, but also be careful because you can break one of the clips things inside the trim part.

In the last pic above, take a look at that silver clip thing that holds the trim. You have to slide it out and then remove the trim.

3. Now that you got that part over with, you can now easily remove the grille. You can pull it out with your hands because it snaps out easily since the trim is no longer in the way. NOTE: I honestly don't remember, but if there is something connected to the grille, you'll obviously need to disconnect it.

4. Now, you have full access to the speakers. You'll have to remove the 4 screws. Good luck! If you have the right tools, it will be easier for you. I didn't, so I was struggling a little bit. My tiny hands helped a lot though.

5. Once you get the speakers out, you'll have to cut off the head of the connector to have access to the 2 wires. Just got them to your speaker wires and that's it! Oh, make sure you test them before putting everything back together to make sure it works.

6. When you are done, just put everything back together -- put on the grille first, then the trim, and then the rubber. Ta da! :)

Nice write up! When you remove the grill one side will have a photoreceptor for auto headlights and some people may have other components depending on technology package(not sure on that one). I installed my gps antennae and tweeters under those grills. Small open ended wrenches will get the job done but if you're lucky enough to have very small socket wrenches OR a ratcheting wrench they're easy to remove.

Depending on how much power you're running you may want to disconnect the speaker connector rather than cutting it and simply running new wires to your amplifiers.

What did you install in place of your paper cone factory woofers?

I would highly recommend disconnecting the battery before doing this. I am not 100% certain, but I would be willing to bet the side curtain airbag connections run through these pillars. You don't want to catch one of those to the face while working in the vicinity.

This is for a 2.5S.

I didn't have anything under the grilles but speakers. There wasn't any other connectors, except for the speakers.

Yep you're right about that, they're also installed in the rearmost pillars as well.
