ive got a 93 240sx HB. ive done plenty of radio, sound systems etc, especially in all the 240s ive had, but tonight im stumped. i keep instantly blowing my audio fuse in the kick panel. my old headunit fried the other day so i put this pioneer unit in my car, and as soon as i got about a minute away the unit shutoff, i went over all the wiring and its all good no loose wires or open ends, i taped off all wires that were not used. the audio fuse is blown, and when i put a new fuse in it immediatly blows, like the second it goes in, i dont understand this because like i said i had the radio working for a good minute, subs and everything were functional. i dont understand now all of the sudden when i put a fuse in it just pops. anybody have any ideas??? i spent about a good 4 hours on this tonight

I would try unplugging the radio and insert the fuse. If it still blows then it is obviously not the radio. You would then have an issue with the factory wiring, other circuits on that fuse(if any) or a problem with the wiring you did in the radio harness. If it doesn't blow when you have the radio unplugged then it appears that you have a bad radio.

Not sure, you would have to check a FSM.

Do you have the turn on for the amps tied into the factory harness? It's about all I can think of.

There's a whole ton of stuff on that circuit to be honest. Rear defog relay, HUD, radio (obviously) illumination for the lcd in your cluster, seatbelt control, antenna, dome lights, warning chime, TCU if it's an auto, and Hicas. Should be fun to trouble shoot.

Have you done any other work on the car? You may have caught one of the hot wires while working on something else and that's why you have a dead short. Is it the constant or ignition fuse that is blowing?

check the 12v wire to ground (continuity) check and see if it is a dead short and go from there.
