HI guys, well i am like a ghost on this forum these days but decided that i should post on this topic incase anyone is ever interested in using this manifold with a similar turbo...

I recent replaced my original custom manifold thats was cracking in all the wrong places, at the collector, on the runners, bah.. with a nice TRUST (GReddy) one..

I was looking around our local forums and found a guy selling a TRUST CA18DET manifold that usually comes with the TD05-17c and TD06-20G kits for the CA18 in japan thaat we all see on yahoo japan auctions and sometimes even ebay.. so that meant it had the 3 bolt flange that had to be removed, and i dont know who had it before but the wasteaget port was in a terrible spot, right inline with the 02 pipe (maybe a front wheel drive app) - (more on that later) i got it for $180 US

so i gave the manifold and a simple print out to my roommate to take to his welders in his shop:

this is what i got

this guy can really weld well, my phone cam doesnt do it justice..

so i had to remove the old top mount manifold, turbo, wastegate, oil & water lines, O2 pipe etc...

turbo and WG assembled T3/T04E 50 Trim w/ .63 - i am guessing this is what a .63 T3 GT2871R may look like (or even a GT25R) - cause i am going to be upgrading to one soon either that or the T3 GT3071R.. cause my T3 turbine blades are toast

this happened when playing with my manual boost controller (occasional 26psi bursts) i would guess, the manifold was glowing red - maybe thats what caused all the cracking - hmmmm, but the stock CA block, pistons, rods, handled it (knocks on wood)

and then i mounted it in the car

i had to cut the mount (and as you can see my car is RHD so i dont know about clearence for LHD, if there is a particular angle i can take a photo from to help give an idea let me know.. but the turbo sits where hte stock one would be, but closer to the mount because of the size of the compressor...

i wish i had taken photos opf the custom O2 pipe i made, it is a simple 2.75" 90* pipe from the 5 bolt to the 3 bolt... looks just like a stock CA/SR 02 pipe.. but i want to remake one 3+" now that i know hot to do the measurements and clearence etc.. and i also need to install an O2 bung and 3" flex pipe

now this is the problem i had with my original WG placement:

so i got the WG pipe fixed

i had some issues with the flange of the manifold warping slightly because of the custom work done to it, so i had to get it plained and now its perfect.. it really pulls allot harder and spools quicker than before.. that old manifold obviously cuased allot fo back presure and was poorly designed.. the runners were allot smaller than this trust one....anyway, hats off to TRUST/Greddy for making a nice manifold...

i am currently running about 14.7psi - T3/T04E on a Stock BlockCA18DET w/ TOMEI 260 cams, gears and springs, and the haltech & 550's..

i am guessing about 300+'ish at the wheels, its allot faster than the 260whp @ 10 psi i posted a while back... there is a drags event this weekend, and i want to push maybe 17psi.. see what happens.

if anyone has questions about fiutitng hte trust manifold dont hesitate to ask.

Wow! Nice work!

Who would imagine the block could handle that much boost and whatnot you're throwing at it. Im very pleased. This is exactly what I've been wanting for my car.

FYI i am using:

CA18DE block & Main Girdle (no oil squirters)Stock Rod & Main BoltsARP Head BoltsCA18DET stock Rods & Pistons w/ Total Seal RingsHKS 1.6mm HeadGasketTomei 260* ProCams w/ Tomei Valve Springs & Adj Cam GearsTurst Manifold w/ T3/T04E 50 Trim w/ stage 3 .63 A/R TurbineWalbro 255lph w/ Aeromotive FPRHaltech E6K w/ 550cc RC Eng, InjectorsSpec Stage 4 clutch

remember i am using a haltech and my mixture is very rich, i think thats the only thing keeping my engine from melting itself.. but i want to push this motor to the limit once the other is completed, i am thinking 24psi on the dyno before i take it out..

my other motor (with the Crower Rods & ARP mains & oil squirters etc) is awaiting 84mm 9:1 JE's, a custom intake manifold w/ GSXR ITB's, SR Clutch & lightweight Flywheel Combo, GT2871R or GT3071R, and some other stuff, hopefully that motor will be complete by summer money permitting... i was going to sell everything, but between travelling allot for work and not having time to finalise everything and needing my car for when i am home, i put it back together a couple months ago.. i'll be in the US again sometime before June so hopefully for the weeks i am up there my CA19DET can be put back into the car..

Aaron, I'm always impressed with the quality (and money ) that you put into your motor stuffs! Looks like an awesome new set up! I wish I had RHD and all that room for a Trust manifold! (stupid LHD steering column)

Quick! Somebody get this guy a better camera! LOL. Just kidding man, wish I could get a setup like that here... Unfortunately I get to live off the T25 footprint for a while.
