I put my SR in without the transmission and am having a hard time getting the trany on. I cant get the ouput shaft into the center of cluch. I can get about an inch away and then the transmission is hitting the firewall. Any tips? Ive tried tiping the motor back toward trany with no luck. I think im going to have to pull the motor and put the transmission on.

Yes, I agree it is way way way easier with the transmission already on it. I guess I can try and share a few *off the top of my head* ideas. You can try to unbolt the motor mounts and lift the motor from the front, or you can place a block of wood with a jack to push up on the main pulley. With the motor tilted, you will probably need a second hand or a transmission jack and lift the transmission STRAIGHT UP without tilting etc. I don't see why you would be an inch away because there should be adequate space for the transmission to go a little higher then it needs to. Also, with the shaft in or almost in, you can rotate the tail shaft while it is in gear to position the splines.

yeah I tried so many damn things today, I took off the turbo side motor mount and lowered the motor that didnt work, my mounts are unbolted and I tilted it all the way back as far as it would go still not making it, and yeah I dont see why it doesnt fit, I did swap on the SR bellhousing to my KA transmission so maybe the demensions are just a bit different enough where it wont go on. The car is on jack stands and Ive been using my jack to move the transmission around.
