Im in the process of reinstalling my timing chain since i replaced the oil pump and in the process the chain dropped down and skipped several teeth.....so i have been attempting at alinging all the marks and have not had much luck....i get the intake cam pin lined up at 10 oclock per fsm and the exhuast cam pin lined up at 12 or so per fsm then try to put the two silver links over the mating mark (dot) on the intake and exhaust cam sprokets and i try to put the gold link over the crank sproket mating mark...i say i try because i cant seem to do all three of these at once...i get the intake cam and the crank sprocket lined up and then its impossible for me to get the chain in the correct spot on the exhaust cam sprocket.....one time i fudged around and got it all lined up but there was a lot of slack in between the gears....so i turned the motor to see what would happen and it seemed to skip teeth but the slack worked itself out (this is with the chain tensioner in)...so then i checked the links and none were alinged with there repsective mating marks though...at this point i gave up because i was affraid of hitting a valve on a piston by hand cranking and damaging something since the timing was off ......hope this made a little sense...if someone could give me some pointers i would appreciate it....or point me towards a thread they know of...sorry if this has allready been discussed i wasnt able to find anything....thanks

Ahh you thinking the same thing i thought haha..when you had it all lined up and tried to turn the motor over the chain then got tight right?..and after turning it your marks didnt line up again so you thought it skipped a few teeth?..i thought the exact same thing but it is fine. Think about how much smaller the gear on your crank is as oposed to your 2 cam gears. It wont line up again once you have lined it up and turned the motor. Atleast to my knowledge it shouldnt..my car works haha
