Loosen the tensioner and move it to where the belt has the most space (with an allen key move it away from the belt area and tighten the tensioner lock nut).

Position a portion of the belt on each gear, don't put the whole belt on one or two. I usually start by puting the crank sprocket end on first. Positioning a portion on each will give you more play to get the whole belt on each. Make sure the cam gers dont move. When it's right all you have to do i slide the rest of the belt on each gear.

When you got the belt on loosen the tensioner lock nut and adjust tension per fsm.

Verbaitum how I do it. Get a friend to help as well, goes 100x quicker and saves stress and sweat.

Quadruple check and count its on right before EVER turning your motor over.

Make sure it is dead on with no doubts. Everytime after i install the timing belt i turn the engine over by hand to make sure it does't hit any valves. Its just a triple check thing that i do for my self so i know its safe to crank with the starter. good luck

Thanks, it went on much easier with the belt half way on the gears.

But I a little confused on how tight the belt should be. There isnt much, if any play in the space between the 2 cam gears.

No idea, i'm sure it's not gonna be the same with an aftermarket belt either. As long as you adjusted per the fsm it will be okay.

Fair enough then. I just put a OEM belt back on it. I got one from Nismoparts for like 20-30 bucks.
