Hey whats up guys,
im a newbie ( like 2 months now ) and i got a little story.... maybe it can be a sticky?
( i take no responsability if this does not work for you or any damage occurs from errors, it worked on my '97 QX4 bose factory system)
anyways, i see alot of you installed aftermarket headunits in order to install amps and subs,
well this weekend i decided to do the same, i know speaker level out to a high low audio adaptor plays crappy sound, so i installed my Kenwood eXcelon head unit.
Now for a day or 2 i tried to fall in love with my new dash, but the aftermarket head unit really stuck out like a sore thumb, and i lost the factory look.
so i decided to think back about the wireing i did and realized this :
The Bose factory radio had already all the proper wireing to install amps and subs without any high speaker to low RCA adaptors!! Plus it has an amp remote turn on wire too!!
on the bose wireing harness you have 2 sockets, 1 small and 1 bigits the small one we wanna concentrate on.
on the small one there are 5 wires you need to look for:
1. Green/red
2. purple
3. blue
4. pink
5. green
now here is the tricky part, well not really....
DO NOT CUT ANY OF THE WIRES! JUST TAP/SPLICE INTO THEM!
the green/red you run to your amp's remote turn on
purple, blue, pink, green are all rear low level 4.5 volt out just no RCA/PHONO jack on them, soooo....
just get 2 female RCA connectors and tap into those wires
Purple is ground, blue is signal rightgreen is ground, and pink is signal left
now just plug those new RCA/PHONO jacks to your amp and viola!
sound just as good as an aftermarket head unit!
yes i did do a search,I dont know if this is new info, but if i knew this before i installed my aftermarket head unit it would have saved me alot of time!
