Hey i recently purchased an 02 maxima. I have two 12" subs in a box with an 1000watt amp. Running the wires isn't my problem. I was wondering if it is possible to wire up the subs to the stock non-bose head unit? I just want the bass from the subs and still want to maintain everything oem.

Thanks Rob.

Yep, you'll need a Line out Converter. You can get that from walmart. You are going to tie into one of the rear speakers.

IMO, that's dumb though. Replace the speakers too

If I tie the subs into the rear speaker when I turn the bass up wont that effect that speaker and in turn might blow it from the bass it can't produce?I have an alpine headunit with the ipod connection but I wanna maintain the steering wheels controls and dont want a huge gap where the oem radio would be coming out of. The oem is doulbe the size of the alpine.

Check to see if there's a steering wheel control module from alpine for your vehicle.

Also, just use a mounting bracket to put the new HU in. Atleast the gap will be blocked off.

You are correct. If you tie into the back speakers you won't have independent control of the bass from the speakers and the subs. Turning up the bass would result in the speakers distorting.

I assumed you were using the OEM HU. If so then the way I suggested is the only way. If you use the alpine the just use the sub-pre-out for the sub amp

I'm looking into a alpine touchscreen monitor that will fit in the dual din spot. It has the i-pod adapter and the oem steering wheel controls will still be able to be used. My bro works at best buy so a $1000 screen is costing me a little over 500 bucks
