Hey Everyone, I have a new S50 I want to install in my 2008 Altima Coupe, Premium Package. I had the dealer install it on the passenger side, attached to the side bottom dash. I have it hardwired into the AUX Input on the front of my BOSE Stereo. I want my S50 to turn on and off as the car turns on and off (Hook it up into the accessory) The dealer tells me this is NOT possible. It will void the warranty and the electrical lines could become damaged and in turn, damage the car. Is this true? I went to circuit city and they said they could hook it up into the accessory for $45 dollars. Whats the deal here? Any comments appreciated.

Also, would anyone have any other ideas as to where to mount the S50? I have it mounted by the passenger seat towards the left foot of the passenger, attached to the side panel of the dash. The only downside is when the seat shoots forward to let someone from the backseat out of my car, the S50 docking station flips forward and almost falls off due to a lack of room. Any ideas / custom mounts available here?

Thanks!!

It sounds like your dealer is simply telling you that if you do any sort of hard wiring to power an accessory and it causes any problems its on you. I'd have to agree. Your installing something that is foreign to the electrical system.

I agree, but shouldn't this kind of hardwiring be VERY BASIC? I mean you can do this in virutally any kind of car yes? All I want is the S50 to power on and off with the car, just like the radio. Right now I have to manually turn it on/off.

I agree with you that its very basic because it in fact is. This is what most dealerships will tell you. No matter what the manufacturer is they don't aren't going to warranty an electrical problem with your vehicle in the even it happens when you have a custom hard wired accessory into your car. The second that see that, they will write it off as not their problem. There are laws against that where they have to prove that this modification didn't cause whatever failure the vehicle is having.
