Supplies needed to install new 6 3/4" speakers:4 small wire nuts, phillips head screw driver, wire stripper, and electrical tape.
1. Remove the rear deck cover, and take out the 4 screws that hold the speaker in.2. From the trunk, unplug the black plug going into the side of the speaker.3. Set the new speaker down into the hole, and re-use the 4 screws that came out to hold them down. 4. From the trunk plug the new wires into the ground and power sides of the new speaker. 5. The plug that came out of the right speaker has two wires going into it: blue with silver and blue with green. After cutting the plug off, connect the ground wire that came with the new speakers to the blue wire with the silver stripe. 6. Then, connect the power wire to the blue wire with the green stripe. 7. Do the same on the left to remove the speaker. On the left side, one wire going into the plug is brown and the other is brown with black. I did the same as on the right, the wire with the black stripe being the ground.
Now, to remove the old speaker grills and replace them with the round grills that came with the new speakers.
Supplies needed:Large sheet of black carpet, staple gun, phillips head screwdriver, scissors.
1. On the back of the rear deck cover, there are 4 phillips head screws holding in each grill, remove these and the grill falls off. The old carpet had a rectangular shaped imprint, so I replaced this with new carpet. You also will have to remove the vents in the back, these have wierd fasteners holding them in. I could not figure out how to remove them (trying to pop them up causes them to rip through the cardboard), so I cut the fasteners off. I will explain later how to reinstall them. 2. Peel the old carpet off, and lay the sheet of new carpet over the cover.3. Trace the outline of the cover with a piece of chalk, leaving about an inch extra all the way around to staple to the back, or if you are confident just eyeball it. 4. Cut the carpet so it fits, and lay it down over the cover. Staple one side of the carpet to the back of the cover. While pulling the carpet tight so you have no wrinkles, staple the remaining 3 sides. 5. Poke a hole in the middle of the carpet over the hole in the cover, then cut a plus sign shape in the hole. Fold the 4 flaps behind the cover, and staple them. Do a similar method in the holes where the vents go.6. Since I cut the fasteners off, I had to glue the vents back on. I was kind of scared about doing this, but its been done for a week and it looks fine. I used Testor's plastic model glue (a good amount the whole way around).7. This was tricky, and there may be an easier way to do this...I put chalk on the holes in the new speaker grills, and sat them down onto the cover and pressed down. This left 4 marks where they would be screwed on. I used a punch to mark where to screw in the screws to hold the grill on. Put the cover on, and screw them down.8. Now reinstall the cover, and it looks like it came from the factory that way
