I recently bought my second 240sx but this time I decided to save the extra money and did not buy the se edition. However... I am beginning to get very annoyed with not having power locks. I mean, my '93 has them, and now my '96 doesn't. I was just wondering if anyone had installed power locks on the 95-98's and could maybe let me know what I'm looking at here. Thanks

if you're looking for oem, then i don't know, but this could work:http://www.slickcar.com/produc...=2206afterwards slap a remote keyless with that for about $40.

google for 'power lock kits'

btw, try not to be too abrasive when asking for help...a simple bump, or anyone? will show that you're firmly impatient but polite and inquisitive...imho.

ok, so will any keyless remote match up? or do i need to be brand specific? or is it easier to just pay the extra little bit and get a full power locks/ keyless entry kit?

i didnt look at that too much, but I would just get the all out kit and spare myself any extra work, but hey, I'm lazy.....

My problem is I am lazy and poor, I mean how much money does a 17 year old have? If there was some way I could be sure they would "mesh" I would go with two sperate kits since i could pay $60-$70 for those two total, or over $100 for the full kit

check the back of the packages... it should say compatible with...blah blah blah... I'm giving the link to my husband for the power locks because I dont have um either, and want um, and the keyless entry thing too. I'd say live without power locks until you have the money for the whole kit with eveything...

I got mine with my alarm. er I think the solenoids were like 20 a pop. You should be able to find DEI's solenoids up on ebay. They're not too hard to install either, took me about 15-20 minutes a door to do, but that was with installing it into my alarm and not as a stand alone system like I'm guessing you're looking for.

No, I have an alarm, it actually came with the car when I bought. Unfortunatley the original owner lost the remote, and I haven't bothered to reprogram it until the power locks are installed. Would there be a seperate remote if i were to connect it to the current alarm system, or could it all be programmed into one?

It could be programmed into the one you have, depending on what it is. All power locks are are solenoids and the wiring of the switches if you choose to add them. They are pretty much universal.

I bought a car alarm and the door lock actuators for like $170 total I think.. maybe $180 or so

could go with a less expensive car alarm, the actuators were $15-$20 each

My husband knows Bam. Bam comes in the store where he works all the time, and Mike's (mikes my husband) friends with Bams best friend Mel. His house is Phat with the drawbridge, lol. I hope I get to meet him myself sometime soon...

yeah, go into like a circuit city or something and get another remote. most alarms like vipers, rattlers, clifford, etc are built by DEI so they should be compatable across. Be sure to know where your valet switch is though if it is made by DEI, you'll need that to program your alarm remote or you could pay someone to do it for you.

thanks everyone, except those of you who are such douche bags as to turn this post into a chat about Bam. Everytime someone sees that I live in West Chester, they ask about Bam, random IM's random posts. Well for all of you who are so amazed and obsessed he went to my school...... like 5-6 years before I did, I'm 17 and who the hell cares if I know Bam or not?
