Hello all,I was wondering how difficult would it be to swap PL PW(power locks and windows) into my 1990 240SX SE? It does not already have these features. I was wondering what i would need to do this conversion. I might do it myself but i may also get the parts and take it to a specialist.

Thanks for all advice in advance,1drifterX

wouldnt be too difficult to get the parts in. the hardest thing would be to wire it all up to work correctly, but you'd be able to customize it to do what you want like one touch up+down etc.

i wouldnt bother with the power door locks, small two door cars dont need them anyway.

well i would put in the power locks for alarm reasons. What items would i need to do this? I have the drivers side switch already. Also do you reccomend doing myself or taking it to a shop? Im not too familiar with electrical wiring.

Thanks,1drifterX

just a tip, automotive electrical is a ******. I suggest you take it to someone who knows about it or buy a lot of spare fuses and a good book on wiring before you get started.

if you arent good with wiring, pay someone to do it, or else you will end up completely frustrated and no closer to your goal.

no switch :(

they lock and unlock with the alarm and lock and unlock when i turn the car on and off.

you need the switches and all the motors, the window pusher thing, etc.

I dont really care for power windows. My last car had power everything but the window motors went bad and one of my windows got stuck open, the other windows just went up and down slower than a snail. I had keyless entry on it too and that worked fine. So i wanted that too on my 240.

Ditto, power locks with alarm are easy, but power windows...very hard. The thing is that if you try to take parts of the power window stuff off of another car, they are not only bolted to it, but also riveted to the door. So you'd have to rip them out, reweld etc...Maybe there is an easier way, but when I looked into it, I just decided to go with power locks, and forget about the windows. Locks are as hard to do as the puling of 4 wires through the doors into the cabin. Not very hard, but somewhat of a PITA, because of constricted space. then you just hook them up to the alardm, and power source. If you want to have a switch for them inside the car, then you'll have to extend two of the wires....But I fidn that a switch is unnecesary.

Power door lock actuators are very cheap on ebay, an not too hard to install, just make sure you get them aligned right, so they wont bend the rods for ya.

That's about all there is to it.

Frankly I think if you're asking this question you shouldn't even try to attempt it yourself. As the previous post said, power windows are a monster job to tackle that requires some serious knowledge, parts, adn wiring skills. A professional will charge you an arm and a leg for it, I know I would. Bottom line is it's just not worth it.
