My G came without Nav, and I was thinking about buying it and installing it.

What's involved in this? Where is the antenna located and how hard is this to install?

Any info is much appreciated.

Better to sell your G and find one with Nav if you want a factory system. The G's with NAV have a different main harness. This is a very expensive part and requires you to tear just about everything out of the dash. Not to mention all the other stuff you would need. I'd probably look into an aftermarket option.

+1...it's a totally different setup, but it can be done if money is no object.

Why not just install and aftermarket unit - probably cheaper than factory anyway.

What the OE Nav system has is better visibility (a doubledin screen in the stero location is a bit low and puts the road further into your peripheral view). The integration makes it tough to steal. And it fits better visually.

Aftermarkets have better value and may have more functionality. But if I were shopping for a G and had the option, I would try and get myself a G with an OE nav system. Then again, I like to add my own video source to the nav screens so I love the clean integration it provides.

I agree with everything you said - that is why I will eventually add a DVD player screen to my setup and retain the stock navigation screen as well.

I've never used the dual climate feature so it wont be missed.
