Hey guys, I've had my '08 SL AWD Rogue for 2 years and finally decided to add a ski/snowboard rack. I've been reading around forums here at nicoclub and the only thing mentioned was that the OEM crossbars are easy to install.

Now, the question is are the crossbars really that simple to install? Are there any extra screws/bolts that need to be bought? Anything in general I should know for installing the crossbars??

Also, if this topic has already been discussed, could someone post a link to page?? Since I am unable to find it :[

The factory crossbars come with all the hardware and instructions. There is nothing else you need to buy.

As for a ski/snowboard rack, I really like Yakima products and have used several over the years. The Fatcat and Powderhound series come with universal clamps that will attach to factory crossbars with ease:

And my favorite online retailer of Yakima products:

Personally, I did not buy the factory crossbars and used a complete Yakima rack instead as I carry ladders, canoes. etc. You can see photos of it here:

Wow, thanks for the information! I decided to buy the OEM crossbars @ nissanautosports, seems to be the cheapest deal as for as I've seen. Also, decided on buying the Yakima Big Powderhound rack. Thanks again!

If anyone was curious or has found a cheaper deal, please let me know :D

Nissan Rogue OEM crossbars $146 + shipping, estimated $158

**EDIT**

seems like nissanautoparts raised their price to $184 :(

I have crossbars I've been trying to get rid of! They came with my 2010 Rogue and I didn't want them and had the dealer remove them. They've been sitting in my closet collecting dust. :D Would work out a deal if you're interested.

Just wanted to mention that I recently installed the crossbars with ease, for all those out there who do not know, the OEM crossbar box for the nissan rogue comes with instructions. You might need a flathead to take out the plastic screw-type things that are covering the holes for the crossbars, but even then your fingers will do the job. Also, I bought&installed the yakima big powderhound ski rack and the universal mounts that come with the package fit perfectly on the OEM nissan rogue crossbars

Thanks dkwon and philipa for this thread! The price at http://www.nissanautosports.com/nissan- ... 7-prd1.htm was still a good one so I went ahead and purchased my crossbars there $184 + shiping and handling = $197. Sorry netak if you still had yours in your closet but I needed mine quick and I didn't know if you had all the screws and stuff and if you were in the US.

I do have useful info to add here for future readers like me. I already have 4 yakima bike racks so besides getting the crossbars, I also need to get the Universal Mightymounts. They serve the same purpose as the Horizontal Mightymounts, but I called Yakima and they told me the Horizontal ones do not work on a Nissan Rogue 2009. Out of curiosity I asked why and they just said they don't "fit". Ok whatever, they're almost the same price.

My racks are 3 king cobras and 1 raptor. From the yakima.com "fit my car" wizard, I think I can only fit two racks, which is really all I need. I'll try putting the King Cobras there with the front facing the rear of the car; otherwise the rail touches the trunk door when opened.

Phillipa, with the yakima system, you can not adjust the distance between the cross bars correct? They have to go in a specific place on the roof?

Im asking because I have a thule cargo box, it has the legs that drop down to secure to cross bars, and it has no adjustment. Im worried that if I get the yakima towers the two will not match and I havnt been able to think of a solution.

If im right, and there is no adjustment to the yakima mount locations, could you tell me the distance between the bars?
