Installing Nissan Hood Protector on 2016 Frontier SV

Having difficulty installing the Nissan hood protector. After several attempts finally got it on but can't close the hood. Have tried to adjust the hood bumpers but difficulty adjusting the center one. Can I just take out the center one? Or do I need to find low profile ones? Any advise?

I ended up using different plastic fasteners. The Christmas tree type. It's been almost 2 years and all good!!
