You can probably search google or here and find generic strut install instructions...

Basically:

- remove old suspensions - you just unbolt stuff connected to the shock once you have the car on jack stands

- use a spring compressor to compress the spring and remove the strut mount/nut

- compress the new spring and put the strut mount onto the tokico strut

- install everything in reverse order

More or less that is it. The only hard part at all is the spring compressing/uncompressing - just be careful because it can get dangerous if you don't do it correctly (i.e. imagine a large 200ft/lb force spring popping loose in front of you).

You can rent a spring compressor at pep boys/autozone/kragen/etc - or buy one for cheap.

installing suspension is real intimidating the first time you do it. but once you do it once, you feel like a pro the next time you do it.

brokeas pretty much explained it. you should download the factory service manual(theres a link in the 240 forum) and have a knowledgable friend help.

Well I was working on my suspension and I wound up not needing a spring compressor cuz I just jacked up the car and put it on some jack stands so the suspension and wheels just hung freely. I got the front left one done w/o any problems then I went to the front left and got the first bolt out no problems and went to the seccond bolt (this is after using wd-40 and liquid wrench) and its not comming so I get a breaker bar and well It started to move and then it snapped the head right off the bolt so I went and got two other kinds of penitrating oil (pb blaster and gibbs both of which are supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread) and a new bolt. So I sprayed one kind on there and it wasn't working so I tried the other and it didn't work I got the nut off the bolt tho lol but the bolt is still in there. So Im going to ask my neighboor to use his oxy torch to get it out. So I spent all day on this silly bolt and flattend out a flat head screw driver and bent a crow bar trying to get it out and I didn't get to my back suspension.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

ThanksAdiosJosh

If you're pulling stock upper mounts to use on the new shocks, you damn well better have a spring compressor. You can very seriously injure yourself without it, the nut at the top can fly off like a bullet. If you're putting aftermarket springs on, you may not need to use the spring compressor to get the upper mount and nut on.

how to get the nut of the top of the shock. put it in a thick blanket and use the impact gun on the top. your replacing the shock and springs all u need is the upper mounts.
