MarkEMark. Since you are replacing your stereo system. I need the stock amps that are mounted in the trunk and the speakers. Will you sell them to me???

for some reason when i installed my sony deck, it wouldn't work unless I plugged in the antenna adapter. I got a wire harness to make things easy, but wouldn't turn on until i used the antenna adapter.

Believe it or not, it has been my experience that if a stereo will not work until the antenna lead is plugged in, that it is due to the stereo not having a ground until that lead is plugged in. Anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong (as I could very well be), but as Camel said, factory grounds are notorious for not working well/not working at all, and using the antenna for a ground is a half-a$$ed way of doing it (though it's still like that in my S13, heh). Your best bet would be to run a short wire to properly ground the head unit, as I will eventually do in my car someday. ;-)

hard to say. but i have a feeling it's due to power antennas.

the antenna lead doesn't ground the radio though. the easiest way to ground the radio is to run a wire to the chassis and bolt it in with a ring terminal (mentioned earlier). I ran a wire to my shift cover and secured the ring terminal there. And even with the antenna unplugged, the radio still worked fine.

good luck

Didn't I cover the bad ground thing already? Funny?

I have a 95 s14. If i want to install an aftermarket amp do i just disconnect the factory amps in the trunk or just wire the system up using the rca connectors on the new stereo.

the factory stereo is 5v out if you have amps. If you have a good amp that can handle that type of input. wire them up to rca plgs and put it straight to the amp. if not, then get a line level converter with an adjustment or use the high level input on the amp.
