Ok, my satellite radio (plug and play, from 2003), finally crapped out on me, and I figured, since I'm in a good economic position right now, I'd take the time and just upgrade my whole head unit so I can have it directly wired (I have an S.)

So, is there anything I need to know going in, anything I need to be careful for as to not cause a warranty issue. I know I have to be careful not to disconnect any airbag lights...

I bought -- http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2...cc=01 and they included a mounting bracket, harness, and antenna adapter. I also opted for their Sirius Alpine kit. Speakers are staying in place for now, as I'm not disappointed in their performance. Given a few months, and if this job keeps up, I'll upgrade the speakers and add an underseat subwoofer.

Now, lets keep this constructive, as I don't want people bashing the head unit saying you should have got XXX. I just want something basic, that will work with my ipod, and control my sirius. Family has had good luck with alpine units so far... I just want to ask you guys if there's anything scary about taking the factory radio out of my 2007 Versa S.

Also Edit: I ordered it today, it'll get here next week sometime, and I'll be attempting the install the following weekend, probably the 7th of June.

Should be a straight forward plug & play install if they sent you the wiring adaptors.

Awesome, you aware of anywhere easy I could hide the satellite radio tuner box?

That's what I've got to somehow manage to hide... hrmmm. maybe under the seat?

I stuffed my sirius components inside the area where the deck goes. Plenty of room behind the deck.

Awesome, that'll make my life far easier, I've already figured out how to run the wire for the antenna through the cab without much incident, but I may just run it out through the passenger side door.

I'll try and take pics of the process too .

Went in great, and you're right, the satellite equipment fit in behind the dash. I poked a hole in the glove compartment to run the antenna cord.

Everything works great, the only thing I had issue with was some of the connections on the harness for the alpine unit. Called tech support, and they encouraged me to cut the ends off, strip the wires, and splice them . Worked perfect.

I gotta hand it to crutchfield, ordered wednesday night, it arrived thursday morning. No one was there to get it, but they redelivered friday and were comprehensive in their tech support.

Forgot to take pics though, couldn't find my camera.

For those that haven't installed their satellite yet but want to, there's another alternative for the antenna...

If you leave the cord running through the back of the center top dash piece, it will not sever the cable. All you have to do is run about 3 inches out the top of this and velcro it to the little plate on the dash near the defrost vents. You don't have to run the antenna outside, having it inside and under the windshield gives it plenty of signal strength. It also doesn't put the antenna bump on the outside where some unsavory people may think "hey, upgraded stereo on this one!"
