First off, a big thanks goes to this forum for all the information I've found here. I am certainly a novice regarding these vechilces and the mods that can be done to them but I'm here to learn.

Car: 2007 M35 - Base Model Audio (Even though the sales guy said it was the premium Bose - My fault for not checking before signing on the dotted line)

Stock headunit
Stock satellite speakers (For Now - but they actually don't sound bad)
Installed 2 sets of tweeters

Following the many references on this site, I've installed the JL Cleansweep and it makes a world of difference. The only issue (if I can even call it that) is that I really have nowhere to mount it. It's currentl installed in the armrest compartment and the wires are nicely run through the centre console behind the head unit. I was wonder where else I could locate it or where others have located it? I checked underneath the dash on both sides but I didn't see a suitable home. This thing a a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Guess you can't really tell from the pictures of it.

Second question: I currently have a single 15" sub in the trunk and it's cool but I'm thinking I should downsize to a box with 2 12" subs. But I'm wondering has anyone cut-out the stock sub mount and installed a sub? I'm thinking I could pull it off. I'd like to keep the box in the trunk and add an additional sub in the stock location. I'm thinking a 10" sub (because that may be the only thing that fits) will get me those notes that the 15" can't produce.

Am I trying to do too much here? Should I downsize to the 2 12" subs and see how that sounds or will adding the 10" not hurt? Don't want to go overboard.

Thanks in advance! I'll try and get some pics for visual aids.

Next project: Puddle Lights!

most people install all their audio units and amps in the trunk and just run wires all the way up to the front.

A few people have installed their own sub in the stock location, with varying results from bad to average at best. If you use a shallow mount 10" so that it fits without any mods to the car then it sounds bad. Cutting it out and installing a normal sized 10" will give you "ok" results, but then you dont really have a good enclosure for it that is designed to work with the subwoofer. Best results are always from a custom box designed for the sound you are looking for. The best thing for you to do would probably to remove the stock sub and leave the hole open to the trunk (with the grill on so it looks nicer) and then mount your dual 12's in the trunk. This 10" sized hole will let you hear the subwoofers a bit better than if you closed it all up.
