hmm where to start. pull the valve covers, timing cover etc.

set engine to tdc.

drain radiator

unhook hoses. remove timing belt

pull off turbo/manifold

remove intake manifold brace

remove the intake manifold or leave it on the head, up to you

undo the headbolts pull off the head

theres more to it then that

not a first time project.

The best advice I can offer is the get a service manual and READ it several times about doing this repair. Its not rocket science but you need to know exzactly what you need to do before you start removing parts.

Yes ---find someone that has done it before--You will also need a Good Torque wrench to torque the head bolts back on.

True. I have to admire an inexperienced mechanic whos not afraid to tackle a big job......thats what it takes Most young males today dont care to learn even how to open the hood to check their oil.

I saw a beautiful Porsche 924 turbo When I was 16. I started reading everything I could get my hands on and haven't stopped working on cars since! I can rebuild any engine and wire a motor into a car that it was never meant to go into. Point is--Due Diligence and the drive to do and there is nothing you can't do!

If the gasket has been customized, check it for good fit around all the head studs. The fit should be tight. It is best to remove all the studs and lay the gasket on the deck first then replace the studs. If there is a bit of a bind around any of the head stud holes just relieve that location a bit with a deburring tool or a smooth round file. If this is necessary make sure you clean the burr that remains. Use a fine sandpaper (100grit) on a sanding block. that was i did for mine.

The CA isn't exactly a difficult motor to work on. It's a whole lot simpler than working on a transverse V motor.

The CA is immensely easier to work on than the SR20!! OMG, what a pain the SR20 is.
