Im having difficulty installing 8000k HID with halogen high beams to my pathfinder.. The kit has the basic black ground wire and 2 red, one for the low beam & one for the high... Basically either the HID will work but when the highbeam is activated the HID's are killed.. Or the highbeams will work without the HID lights..

Im wondering if its a power issue or if the wiring are being plugged in wrong, if anyone knows the correct order of the 3 wires inorder to function properly or if im just missing some important information.. please help.

Welcome to the forum!

When i got my H4's installed i had the same problem. It's cause that we have a daylight running light system , that wont lets us have the hids for daylight/high beam. I got my professional done so i have now clue about wiring. My headlights don't work during the day instead my fogs are on and my hids work when i turn it on and i have no high beams

Yea, i think the only solution would be to have the HIDs without the highbeams, but im not the only driver so i would perfer to have them added just incase..

Here's the deal. Nissan switched their wiring up alittle on the bulb socket. The normal way is to have a common ground and 2 seperate positive wires in, one for the low beam and one for the high.

When I install the same kind of kit I ended up with the same results as you. What I found was the high and low beam share the same positive wire and then switch each wire on using a seperate ground for each.

I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow to get some picture for you to help explain what you'll need to do. There's a few wires you'll need to cut and switch around to get it working right.

Personally I JUST switched from a xenon/halogen to a bi-xenon setup and there's a HUGE diffenace. If I was you I'd check them out. The shield creates a great cutoff which helps keep the low beams out of drivers eyes and when I hit the high beam it moves the bulb out from behind the shield and the high beam it awesome.

Welcome to the forum! I would suggest against using HID's for your brights solely based on the fact that turning HID on and then off quickly can be hazardous to the globes(lamps)/ballasts. The globes need to warm up to full brightness before turned off. If they don't warm up it will lead to premature failures with the globes and ballasts.

you said the kit has an hid low beam and a halogen high beam? if this is like the kits ive seen it has the 2 lamps right next to eachother correct? if it is then it purposely doesnt allow you to turn both of them on, the heat generated by these 2 lamps on at the same time while they are right next to eachother will burn them out, i ordered one of these kits for a buddy and we wired it so both would come on at the same time when he hit his high beams and they burnt out very quickly. also there is nothing wrong with your wiring, if you had a normal 9003/h4/hb2 halogen bulb in there it is a dual element bulb, when you hit the highbeams it turns off one element and turns on the other one, the element used for the high beams is set back further in the halogen lamp so it reflects higher up. if i were you id either just use the hid low beams, because an hid is 3x brighter than halogen, or like body80 is talking about, get a bixenon kit, it uses telescopic bulbs, so when you switch between high and low beam, the hid stays on it just sucks the bulb in to the housing via a magnet on the back of the bulb, causing the light to be reflected differently. i have a bixenon kit and i love it, and i need one to pass inspection. lol

Yea, the kit i have has the two bulbs beside each other.. hmm, I've checked out the bi xenon kit like you suggested, they've gotten my interest.. I'll have to see about switchin the kit for a bi xenon kit if all else fails; but that's a problem now by itself..Not too challenging but still.
