Installing factory bi-xenons on 2011 EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I'm a new 2011 EX35 owner, and I had a question about the bi-xenons. I didn't get the deluxe package or whatever it was that included the factory bi-xenons because none of the other features appealed to me. The only thing I wanted out of that was the bi-xenons, and I couldn't justify spending almost $2000 for all those other bells and whistles if all I wanted were the headlights. Has anybody installed Infiniti's factory bi-xenons on their EX35, or even know if it would be possible? I understand that the "adaptive directional lighting" or whatever it's called (where the lights turn with the steering wheel) probably wouldn't work on an EX35 that didn't already have that deluxe package. All I want are the brighter, nicer HID's. If it is possible, do you think the dealer would install it? I'd really appreciate anybody's input... Thanks!!

Yes, it is very possible. There is a few ways to install, first being the cheapest where you can install an aftermarket kit which depending on the brand $35-150 for the kit. When you order them you need to choose the bulb type for the kit, for us it would be an H11 HID Kit for the lowbeams (regular driving lights), then you choose the temperature. Factory HIDs are typically 5000k-6000k, "K" standing for kelvin because they are gas charged. Higher the temperature, lower the visibility but giving you a more blueish colors and further more would end up purple/violet. I recommend 5000-6000K for a clean white/factory look. Easiest way to install would be by removing your wheels and going through the wheel wells. Basically its just changing your headlight bulbs except between the bulb, you will have an ignitor which is referred as the ballast that will go between the factory harness and the bulb. This allows the bulb to draw enough power to ignite the bulb (because it gas charged) because the factory harness does not have enough power to do so. The SECOND way would probably cost you nearly 2 grand I bet unless you search on ebay which would be to swap out the headlights completely for Bi-Xenon ones, giving you the factory HIDs and I am assuming the ability to have directional headlights.

..For more detailed information please use the search button for similar threads with this topic discussed. Welcome to the forums and good luck with the installation.
