Hey,

So im planning on buying the Greddy exhaust soon, hopefully if it isnt too loud in cabin.

Anyways, so im not the greatest mechanic but i do everything myself and learn while i do it. My only question is when installing an exhaust is it safe to use jack stands/ forks to hoist the car up and then go under it? I know ive read on all jackstand boxes that it says its not safe to go underneath the car with jackstands on, get a lift. So, im wondering how safe it would be to use jack stands and changef the exhaust?

Any comments would be helpful thanks.

Id be careful.... if its on the correct lift points... it should be good... but you are going to be putting pressure on the car.. i dont think it would fall off... but im not stickin my head under there to find out.... anyone else?

I think you've read things backward. It's not safe to be under the car held up by hydraulic lifts (floor jacks). As long as your car is sitting firmly on jack stands, on level ground and you're not kicking them you should be fine. Installing exhausts will be much faster, easier if you have an extra set of hands.

So am i going to use 4 jack stands to lift the whole car up? Not quite understanding the procedures.

What?

Is the STILLEN exhaust not good enough for you? Just Kidding!

Installing exhaust systems are pretty easy. Johnny D installed his STILLEN exhaust with his brother in their drive way.

As long as you have a good socket set, some time, a good buddy, and a 6 pack it can be a fun experience.

Just remember: Working on cars is a fun experience, no matter how frustrated you might get, just remember that it's better than working haha.

if you got 2 floor jack it makes things easier. But here's what we did with 1 floor jack.

Raise the front left, put jack stand on. Raise the front right, jack stand. Raise the back of the car using the center lift point, place 2 jack stands on its lowest point. Then go back to each of the stands and raise the stands a couple clicks up and just do that for all. Eventually you'll have all 4 raised high enough to get enough space to get under and put the exhaust on.

I used oil change ramps, only 2 of them for the rear wheels and i got it done. Ramps are much safer then jacks but you can only go about 7.5 inches max.

Hrm.. So possible installing a whole exhaust system with just ramps? If so, i think id prefer ramps but this isnt an axle back system.. So im guna have to raise the car from both of the side points i assume... meh.. we'll see how it goes when the time comes.. Hopefully nothing bad happens :S

I use oil change ramps with jack stands as back up ... maybe over cautious, but I lost a friend when his car fell on him.

Be safe!

yes it is a bolt on but the thing is so heavy, the easy way is to get underneath and support it w/ your body else it'd be scratched up and it's too long to hold up w/ 1 hand. It's a pain to align if you don't have help

As long as you are careful and jack up the car at it's recommended points, you'll be fine. My buddy and i installed my Stillen exhaust yesterday using 2 jack stands and a hydraulic jack. The process was really simple
