The e-brake signal just needs to be grounded, yes. Not so sure about the speed signal. I'd imagine it detects the pulsing from the vehicle's speed sensor though so simply leaving it disconnected may work. You might try hooking everything else up and then seeing if it works this way. If that doesn't work, of course, using a ground signal might.

C-kwik is right. Speed sensor wire just needs cut, not grounded. Here is step by step directions on how to bypass it:

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the OP, but I had figured he was referring to how to install an aftermarket headunit that has a e-brake and speed sensor hookup. Considering his profiles says he has a 06 G35, I don't think that article applies to him.

I didn't realize the article was for 08's. But regardless, the same wiring would apply. Ground the brake sensor, cut the speed sensor.

The 06 doesn't have an aux video input AFAIK. If he had navi in his G already, he would need an aux input switching device like avelectronic or tvandnav2go makes. Such a device simply splices into the wiring between the video screen and the nav unit which passes through the signal when switched off, but adds the aux video signal when switched on.

But in his case, it sounds like he is simply adding a DVD/NAV headunit and needs to know how to wire the e-brake and speed sensor safety signal from the aftermarket headunit to bypass its safety lockouts. If this is indeed the case, there would be no need to cut any of the factory wiring.

LOL...

If you are indeed putting in an aftermarket unit, please do keep us posted, including the unit you are using and what the solution was so we can have it here for future reference. Thanks and good luck!

If it is aftermarket say what one it is. They do manage to have different ways to make it work.

Depending on the unit, you can rewrite the software to bypass it. Then if you ever get into legal issues, you can revert the software back to it's original form and say you had it hooked up the whole time.

A manufacturer's inclusion of the safety mechanisms are likely to provide them with a legal safety net should someone inevitably do something stupid like drive off a cliff while watching a movie in their car. By providing the feature and including its installation in the instructions, they basically cover their butts in case someone tries to argue that no safety lockout feature was made available. If the owner or installer bypasses this portion of the install, there legal liability is shifted from them.

From a perspective of a driver, the only issue that would come into play is if an officer actually witnessed you displaying a video source on the display while driving. There is no law that says there must be a safety lockout on such a device to my knowledge. Or in other words, an officer wouldn't cite you for not having the lockout installed correctly. They would cite you for watching a movie while driving.

I'll look into what you have to do with that one. Pioneer is the bane of installers as far as bypasses go. I had to do a software update and add a wire to the harness get my Z1 to work.

Right...being cited for watching a movie while moving is a legal issue. You reinstall the original code, contest the ticket saying the officer couldn't have seen a movie because it doesn't work.

Nice choice. That's the one I'm going to be getting. You should put up some pics when the install is done. Go to avic411.com and under their forums, people have rewrote some of the software to customize it, including a software bypass.

This may or may not help you out. I have a Kenwood DDX514 and wanted the dvd player to function when in motion. I found a guy with an online ebay store that makes bypass's that are radio specific. I'm sure there may be an easier less costly way but this worked just fine for me. They don't cost that much...this is their ebay name (specialtyelectronics) Good luck!
