Installing cas and motor made sound I didn't like

Took my CAS out to check the dots and see if they were lined up. They were a litle off to the right. So I installed just like the FSM says but with the VC on. It slided right in with no problem, but on start up motor would turn and die with a metal to metal sound right before dying. Wasn't horrible, but.... What did I do wrong here?pulley was set to second mark from the left

Time for rebuild?

Was your engine working before the CAS was re-aligned?

If it was, then you will have to realign the CAS again and do it right this time. If it wasn't working, then something else is the problem.

It did work before. Just making sure I didn't cause devistation.
