just wondering how to hook it up coz i'm planning on keeping the Bose amp ans speakers dont have much money to spend on them. so should i hook the new head units speaker wires directly to the amp or do i have to buy a rca cable and cut out one end and hook it up the the amp. thanksD

There is a way to do this but you have to buy a certain wiring harness as well as a nissan harness.

to be honest with you its better if u change it all with a different amp, then to mix with bose.if you are satisfied with your sound just keep the stock bose because it isn't a bad stock sound set up. changing it all can run alot of money, and thats the only way to make it sound better.

depending on what u want either more bass or less, alpine has less bass and pioneer has more. shop around and go hear what the stuff you are going to buy sounds like before you buy it.

1. Im giving advice. No need to be hostile kid.

2. Try an alpine 9855

3. Spell "maby" right, and maby you can say something.

Children...children. Learn to play nicely.

Our mods are our mods regardless if we like each other's.

First of all, let's stay on topic here. Secondly, there is a lot of debate as to whether a K&N drop in filter is preferable over a WAI cone setup. Thirdly, there is even more debate over oiled filters in general.

Back to the original topic...

I'd stick with the BOSE setup or replace everything. Mixing bose with non-bose HUs is not advisable. I've heard of some horror stories about terrible sound or blown amps/speakers.

The Bose system isn't cheap and depending on your model, can sound MUCH better than an expensive aftermarket system. My only complaint on the newer model systems is their migration to digital controls. In my experience, analog equalizer controls always sound better than digital.

If you get a HU with pre amps all you have to do is make a wiring harness (if you can do basic wiring) for my 89 it was the same wiring harness as the non bose, you just need to run the pre amps insted of the speaker level output thats all the box does in the pic (it drops the speaker level to a pre amp) then all you have to do is hook the amp turn on lead to the harness for the amp turn on (usally a blue and white wire) what i did is pull the bose HU out, took a muti-meter and turned it off and on while checking what wires had power. As for the RCA ends i went to radio shack and got them, it's hard to get a good splice using RCA cables due to most of them are shielded and are thin wires.

I was quoted 1,499.95 for the oem bose HU. I just went on ebay and got it for 100 dollars. What makes the bose crap out is a gear that moves the laser or the cd. Thats what the stealership told me.

well i really don't want to change it i mean look at that pic i put the wood trim on and it look real good but the only problem is it can't play MP3 i mean at leat they should have supported CD RW and the ipod hook up is $140 thats a rip off i can buy a nice alpine for $140 and the ipod cable for another 20, and i can't even hook up a sat radio. thats the reason why i want to change it
