unless you do a custom job it may be kinda difficult... i wouldn't want to try and get all the stock pieces to fit into a non a/c model... not worth the pain IMO

Some of the earlier Hardbodies came from the factory without A/C and had it installed as an option by the dealerships.... so I would think it's definitely do-able. It's possible that the wiring harnesses are already there if they were still doing this in 1992.

Check my redo transformation thread. It's on my to do list.It would have been done by now but I have 4 other vehicles that are priority. You'll need the push button switch that installs on your existing control unit.A relay or two under hood, the wiring is there you just need to plug in the relays. You'll need the plenum section with the evap core that goes behind the dash. You'll need the condensor that goes in front of the radiator. You'll need 3 lines, the compressor and mounts and fan belt. The crank pulley has an extra groove for the ac.That's just off the top of my head.

Now ask me how I installed power steering in my non PS Hardbody.

yeah find a donor truck for the parts, just remember as old as they are some parts may still need to be purchased new to make it all work. but most non ac models have wiring and pully set up to be added as dealer option so it is mostly a parts thing. You will need the ac switch for panel inside on dash and evaporator condensor and the valve behind glove box and maybe some other things like hoses, compressor, etc.

I do not want to sound negative, but unless I had a donor vehicle where I knew the a/c worked or a machine (or assesses to) that can reclaim freon in case the system does not work, I would hesitate doing it. Given the year (1990) there is to much that can go wrong. The condenser could leak or be plugged.the expansion valve could be bad,the receiver drier should be replaced, the compressor could be bad. Plus a lot of time installing the evaporator and duct work. Just an opinion if I really wanted to install A/C in a 1990 vehicle I would save a lot of work & time and find a aftermarket evaporator that uses R134, with the expansion valve built into it, that mounts under the dash, replace the condenser & receiver drier or at least have the donor condenser tested and go with new low & high hoses. The only thing you would need form the donor vehicle is the compressor and brackets.
