I called IOS and they told me that the Throttle Position Sensor changes ever six months and they need the VIN. So I know on the 1991 Q45 the TOS voltage should be between .4 and .5 volts and the 1993 Q45 TPS be about .7 volts.

So if I were to install the 1991 Q45 TPS sensor on my 1993 would I set it to .7 volts or between .4 and .5 volts?

And please I know new is best but I want to see if I have a faulty TPS because my laptop consult couldn't read the closed throttle position switch on the TCU AND I can't complete the AT-CHECK which means by process of elimination the TPS or Closed throttle position sensor is bad.

All 90-96 TPS set at 0.44 volts! Obviously this will vary with temperature and accuracy of VOM.

Don't confuse the secondary TPS [added for traction control] with primary TPS potentiometer

Tech I hear you saying all the time that "All 90-96 TPS set at 0.44 volts".

Do mind if I asked how you know that when the FSM says to set it between .4 and .5 volts?

I would have to guess that it's from his experience seeing how they were set from the factory reading them with Consult...

It certainly fits nicely in the middle of the .4 to .5 range

personally the way I adjust the TPS is really want it so that when you press the gas it goes from "on idle' to "off idle" which changes the duty cycle of the IAC..

so all I do is change loosen the IAC and find the threshold and get it as close to that without going over.. Worked pretty well for me!

Remember a number is truly, just a number...
