installing a gauge pod

i am installing an autometer gauge pod on the drivers pillar. do i just remove the entire plastic pillar trim and drill the holes to mount it?

that would be your best best i tried drilling it while it was on was shyt i gotta re do it. oh yeah make sure its not mounted to low or it will hit the door when you close your door. just some mistakes i did.
