Hey guys! I just got my self a Autometer A/F gauge and have a question on how to wire it....

Is it better to drill a hole through the firewall and hook it up to the O2 sensor harness or just connect it to a wire from the ECU?

There are two wires coming from the front O2 sensor to the ECU and it's brown and white... If I were to connect it to the ECU, which wire do I connect it to?

Thanx

connect it at the ECU.

That factory service manual will have the wiring diagram you need for the right color wire.

No problem. By the way, you don't connect to the wire under the hood on the sensor itself because the wires at the sensor are shielded from the interference from the ignition wires. If you connect it there with a wire that is not shielded, you will introduce interference to the system and may cause the ECU and AF meter to not read correctly. Plus it looks cleaner altogether to put the wire in the dash.

If I were to put it under the hood I was going to wire it after the harness but not to the wires coming out of the sensor for the reason you mentioned. Like you said, I think it would be alot cleaner and easier to just wire it to the ECU.

According to the schematics, there are two wires coming from the O2 sensor to the ECU... Brown and White. I am assuming that it's the brown one that I have to connect to... maybe white is for ground?

EDIT: #46... got it. Thanx for your help!

Your welcome. Don't get too distracted by the gauge. I found myself looking at it for fun and not the road for like a week.
