Installing a brush guard on a 2003 QX4...

Hey guys,

I just picked up an 03 QX4 (pics up tomorrow) and I have a brush guard I bought for my old 98 QX4 but it didn't work for it because it was for a newer year.

In any case, I know it'll fit on the 03. Is there anything special I should do or need to know about installing it on the 03? Will the bolts from the front towhooks come off and then go right into the brush guard and hook it all up correctly?

I didn't get any instructions with the guard, so I'm just being safe.

You might need to flip over the tie hooks in front in order to put in the guard.. other than that it's pretty much straight forward.. Good luck with it..

Congrats on the new '03, you're gonna love it. I put a grille guard from a 99 on my 01. If it's the same setup, which it should be, all you have to do is:

1. Remove the Fog Lights (1 Screw and 1 Hex Head Bolt, I think a 10mm)2. Drop the tow hooks, I used an impact gun because it was tough getting enough torque out of a conventional socket/ratchet without stripping the bolts.3. Bolt the new grille guard up.

Because of the hole patterns I was only able to use 3 bolts on each side. It's tight around the bottom of the bumper cover and it will flex slightly but once it's up it'll look completely normal and badass!

So, after I get it bolted on, do I get to put the fog lights back in?

Also, if I post a pic of the mounting bracket stuff on the guard, do you think you guys can ID it as "working" or not?

I'm going to get banned for triple posting, but I think I figured out why this won't go on the 03.

I need the mounting kit...heck, I could get it working on the 98 if I had the right mounting kit.

Where would a guy get one of these fabled things as mentioned on WAAG or Rampage? For only an arm and hopefully not the leg...

Mine bolted right up without the mounting hardware but I'm not sure if it's the same hole pattern as yours. I think mine has 4 holes but only 3 matched up on each side. And you take out the fogs for access, you can put them back when you're done.

Well...I picked it up off Ebay for 280 or so, shipped.

Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to get it attached to the car yet...

The mounting arms don't seem to come close to holes for mounting! I've sat in front of the car staring from the arms to the holes behind the fog lights for 15 minutes trying to see how it would work but I just don't see it happening.

I was hoping someone here could steer me towards a mounting kit to get it situated on an 03.
