Has anyone installed a blaster SS coil from MSD, If so how do I change the wiring harness from the stock coil to accept the new coil from MSD. there seem to be a few extra wires on the stock coil and only a positive and negative hook up on the new coil. My car is a s13 thanks for any and all advice....:ylsuper

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've got the entire MSD wired in except for the old coil positive wire. It either goes to one or both of the wires going to the old coil, but it's not obvious which one. I've looked at the wiring diagram, and I have a guess, but I don't want to screw it up.

Maybe someone has done this and can help us out.

I got mine installed, it works great. Which MSD ignition did you install? I installed the sci and if you have the same one I can tell you how to hook it up get back to me soon. It is great when its installed. Also, what plugs and wires are you running?

It's a 6AL with adjustable rev limiter. It went into the S13 that I'm building for SCCA ITS racing.

So, tell me how you hooked it up. Orange and black to the coil, white to coil ground and red to . . . ?

I did mount mine on the passenger side floor, which should keep it drier and cool. I didn't figure the 8600 rpm chip would work too well so I guessed at 6900. What is stock redline?

Plugs will be Champions and wires will either be stock type or something without with some decent resistance to cut down EMI. I run Magnacores in my other race car (GT4 200SX).

I belive the sci is the same as the 6al as far as wiring goes, I will have to run down to the garage and take a look at how I hooked it up. I am running taylor race wires 8.5mm along with bosch twin platnum plugs. I am thinking of swapping to NGKs I hear that they run alot smoother. I was also curious about SCCA I would like to get involved with it and Im not really sure how or where to get info. drags are fun but I want some real challenge and I think racing is the way to go let me know what you think

I was in the middle of the reply when my connection took a dump.

Anyway, I used to run Taylor wires and they seemed pretty good. But, I was having a problem with the Electromotive on the GT car and swapped out the wires for Magnacores. When I found that it was the trigger wheel, I never changed back. Some guys race on NGK plugs, so they are probably pretty good, but I have a bunch of Champions lying around so I'll try those first.

SCCA racing can be usually either Solo II or Club racing. Solo II is the place to be if you have a street car and want to see if you like the competition, those it's not usually head to head (or fender to fender). Check out SCCA.org for the next event unless you live in a cold area of the country, then wait 6 months. Club racing is almost exclusively race only cars - even in showroom stock. They need cages and safety equipment.

The only place to club race a 240SX is ITS/ITA, EP and GT3. They must fall into a Solo II class, but I don't know which one.

So what did you find on the MSD wiring? Did you bypass the power transisitor and resistor/condensor?
