We put the (Eibach) rears in ourselves but had a shop do the fronts the next day (we had no spring compressor) and the mechanic also said to wait for a few hundred miles to let the entire suspension (springs, shocks, etc.) settle to the new ride height. My car dropped visibly within 200-300 miles (total drop is now probably close to 3/4 inch more than the stated amount all around) so I am waiting a bit longer before getting an alignment. The car rides perfectly but the inner edges of the tire will likely show wear over time without an alignment (although it's great in the twisties with the extra camber!) I'd give it at least 300-500 miles.
