ok today i installed spl front tension rods on my 95 240sx and heres my review:

GOOD:- Makes caster adjustable- Alot Lighter than old tension rods- Looks alot stronger than old tension rods(larger diameter rods)- Pillowball alot stronger than big rubber bushing- Better road feel in steering wheel- They're Blue!- Easy to install, 15 minutes for both sides, but this was done at a shop with air tools on an alignment rack

BAD:- No give in pillowball, so if you hit a curb or big rock or mountain, you're gonna break something- You pretty much have to get an alignment right after installing them- Adjustability does also mean that they can loosen up and cause a pull, bad alignment, etc.- Better road feel also means every bump causes harsh bangs in front end, not forgiving at all- If you have bump steer because of lowering etc and havent fixed it... this will make it WORSE

Overall I was happy with my purchase , especially the fact that ordering from spl parts is soo easy, since they have my info on file and it takes about 2-3 minutes over the phone to order anything. Even though, my opinion is if your not going to be road racing or doing the weekly canyon runs(me ) in your car, no need for the added harshness of ride quality these rods give you

Wait...so you're saying that after buying these tension rods and having them professionally aligned, they will eventually loosen up and screw up the alignment?

If that's the case, I'm not even going to bother with a full race alignment if it's just going to un-align itself. I'd be better off buying one of those lifetime alignments that Firestone offers.

I just got SPL tension rods installed too, in blue because blue owns. I still need an alignment, I got them close as I could. If you think they are harsh try driving on the tc rods, solid mount rear subframe bushings, and brand new coilovers.

That would be as result of an install error, not the tension rods.

no just saying in the world of murphys law, that a bar that has no adjustment will never loosen up... but a bar that has two lock nuts and a adjuster rod in the center that there is always a chance it could loosen up.... if installed correcty then the chance is very slim... but there is still a chance

btw firestone alignments are crap, they will only set up your car to what nissan says the car should be, but with a car thats lowered with huge wheels that might not be the right alignment for you....

personally i dont care, i get to align my car on the brand new $100k hunter alignment rack at work
