So today me and my dad changed the front pads and rear brakes on the car. All new drums and shoes in the rear.

The drums werent actually that hard to install but Im having a hard time adjusting everything now that I have it all back together. I think the problem is my ebreak needs now to be adjusted because it is very tight to pull and there is no slack for even one click.

When I put the new drums on we adjusted the starwheel to where the drum had resistance when spinning, but maybe the ebrake being to tight is messing with that.

With the car jacked up in the air, engine running and in drive, both wheels spin, but when I push the brake pedal it doesnt completely stop the wheels, its not grabbing enough, the pedal goes down quite far to I think, and isnt really firm at all.

I dont quite get how I should adjust the ebreak. Hoping someone can help me through adjusting them so I can take the car for a road test :werd: :mike

Remove the small cover in front of the parking brake, this should allow you to access the nut with the parking brake disengaged. The adjusting nut is 10mm. Other than that, the FSM's instructions should be simple enough to follow. There should be no need to bend the warning lamp switchplate after adjustment.

I think I got it right, thanks town for telling me where the park brake adjuster was, I thought it was underneath for some reason

So I backed the park brake off quite a bit, then did each wheels adjustment with the star wheel on the back. I dont think the rear wheels are biting as hard as they could. But arent they self adjusting??

Im hoping I just need to take it on the road and use it. I think I heard you need to go fast in reverse and stop hard and the brakes self adjust??

I think I may need to bleed the brake fluid out, my pedal isnt as firm as I think it should be and travels pretty much all the way to the floor. Maybe I should completely change the fluid.

Both the front and rear brakes self-adjust every time the brake pedal is pressed.

Long pedal travel such as what you're experiencing might be caused by air in the lines. I'd suggest a brake fluid flush, especially if you haven't had one done for two or more years. You can find details about brake fluid and the proper bleeding order in the general information thread.
