ok i recieved my remote start and installed it myself.... some might say thats stupid, but i am an ase certified mechanic, and i know car electronics and know how to solder and all that good stuff..... turned out fine except for one thing.....when its cold, either its sat for the night or after work, it takes forever to turn on..... it cranks and will either finally start after about 10 secs... or it stops.... waits a sec then starts right up.... im not sure what this would be other than something like fuel pump not getting enough power or something.....anyone have any ideas?

if there is a tach wire that came with the alarm and its not hooked up, this could be the problem. what kind of alarm is it? what brand and model (if you know)? also, the crank time for the auto start might be set too long. you usually will need a modulator (sort of looks like the obd-II scantools) to do this.

i hooked up the tach wire correctly and i had the system learn the tach signal.... its a dei Valet 562T i believe... see it cranks and starts fine when its warm... but when its cold its almost like its not geting spark or fuel or something.... maybe like its not giving enough power for the fuel pump?

mine did the same thing,i installed the omega max e in my 89 240sx.it would not start till the third try and then it would cut off after 10 seconds, found out that the alternator was dead and not giving my battery enough juice, replaced alternator,it starts on the first try and stays on.

I know this is stupid but, did you connect the cold start wire?

I had the same problem til I connected my cold start wire & that's what it sounds like from reading briefly.

On cold days & when the engine is not warm, there should be 2 wires getting power, not just the regular ignition wire. For my viper 791xv, there was an additional wire that I reprogrammed from Accessory -> 2nd ignition.

Easiest way to find this wire is through the multimeter.

After a abusing the "search" button for a bit, here's what I found guys. I too, have the same issue with my 791 viper.

************************************

Finally got it to work, thanks Silvia2b!

cosmicfox:silvia2b is completely right.

It is the black/yellow. What may be confusing you, like it did me, is there are 2 black/yellow wires depending on what side of the harness you are looking at.

Another thing: they have to ALL be connected correctly for this to work.

Ok, here we go, there are only 5 wires, so it's process of elimination:

On key side of harness:White/Red - Constant 12vBlack/Yellow - StarterBlack/White - Ignition 1Blue - AccessoryBlack/green - Cold Start ->This is the wire that is Black/Yellow on the other side of harness.

Here is how I connected from the relay to this harness (1st color is relay):2 Red Wires -> White/RedPurple Wire -> Black/Yellow harness sideGreen Wire -> Black/Yellow key sideOrange Wire -> BluePink Wire -> Black/WhitePink/White -> Black/Green

Now, here is what I have set on the alarm settings:Menu 3:Default everything except:Pink/White to 2nd Ignition (defeault is accessory)Anti-grind off (just wanted to disable this to test, haven't put it back on yet)

My cold starts works great now. I have other problems now, but I think that has something to do w/ my relay or something else I did to the car.

But it was working great the 1st couple days, haha.

Just curious did you connect the cold start wire & the regular start wire? One is black/white, the other I think should be black/green. You'll have to check with a voltmeter, or a test light.

To do this:

Make sure the vehicle isn't in gear. Find the wires & attach the probe or touch the contacts on the ignition turn the key to start, both wires supply 12V to the starter relay circuits only the cold start relay only is needed when the engine is not warmed up. The wires that only have 12volts in the key crank position need to be energized, You'll probably need a second starter relay to activate the second starter. Use the purple wire in the 4 pin wiring harness coming out of the high current relay pack to connect to the #85 terminal, #86 & #87 should have constant 12volts power. #30 is the output to your cold crank wire.
