The only complaint i have had about the BOSE system was the lack of/drowing of the Highs by the Low and Mid channel... you have to run the Bass at +2 and the Treble at +5 for the system to be half decent.

I recently saw a thread on a aftermarket tweeter install and decided to try it. I went to my local Audio shop and purchased some Memphis Street edge Tweeters for $32.10. (I didnt feel like waiting on shipping... probably could of paid less off the net)

All i can say is WOW the BOSE system is greatly enhanced... the whole sound stage is improved!

You can now hear the Highs with the treble set at zero! so im running the EQ at +2 Bass and +1 Treble (just to give it some amp power)

If you been complaining about the BOSE system and dont want to spend big bucks... just replace the Tweeters. I will still do a complete replacement later on next year but this will hold me over til then

here are some PICS of the install

Had to modify the bracket to fit the new tweeters

New Tweeter installed with a slight Bend on the bracket, a very snugg fit

Re-wired new tweeter (yeah it was 43 degrees out but i was determined)

All mounted back up... just need the screws and covers back on

Close up of the stock tweeter.. BTW it says 4ohm on the back??? thought everything was 2ohm????

Good deal.

Tweeters are usually 4ohm in the Bose systems. Last I checked a Bose mid it was about 1.66 ohm. I have a set of MB Quart NEO tweeters and JL Audio component tweeters sitting in the garage and I'm considering a similar upgrade once it warms up and I decide which tweeter to go with.

i was wondering if it was necessary to take the whole door panel off to replace the tweeter? cuz i remember taking off the tweeter..but i never had to take off the whole door panel..i only took off the two tabs that hold the plastic piece in and it came right out...if it is necessary..you think you would send some instructions as to how to take the door panel off?...thanks..appreciate it
