Installed Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Valve

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I guess you'll have to wait until the next Oil-Change to see how it flows, eh ?

So your Dealer is OK with you doing Oil Changes ?

Mine told me, that they have to do them, or the Warranty is void.

Is it a Scam or not... I don't know ?

They are the only Infiniti Dealer in town, so I guess I have to play by their rules.

Indeed, have to wait until the next oil change! The flow to drain will be slower ("slow as molasses" :rotfl ) since the hole diameter will be smaller.

No problem from the Infiniti Dealer.

From the official fumoto website: http://fumotousa.com Quote:

Endorsements: "The Engine Oil Drain Valve has been tested and granted "Genuine Parts" status by 6 major motor vehicle manufacturers in Japan, including Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Isuzu. These approvals were not granted easily and gaining them was a testimony to the quality and durability of Engine Oil Drain Valve."

Definitely will not void the warranty! This is one of the simple mainentance DIY for a car owner but... messy! YOU can do it!

Not true. I'd politely bring this up to the region.

Feel free to enlighten me.

This is what I found in the Owners Manual...

MAINTENANCE AND RECORDS
As a condition of this warranty, you are responsible
for properly using, maintaining and caring for your
vehicle as outlined in your Owner’s Manual, and of
maintaining copies of all maintenance records &
receipts for review by Nissan. Failure to do so is
likely to result in the denial of warranty.
Evidence of the performance of the required maintenance
should be kept and may need to be presented
as proof of such maintenance in connection
with related warranty repairs. To assist you in maintaining
appropriate records, the Maintenance Log
located in your Owner’s Literature Kit can be used
along with supporting repair invoices, receipts and
other such records.

When I did one of my own Oil Changes (using a Drive-thru :ohno: ) cause they couldn't get me in (the Dealer was back-logged for 3 weeks) the Dealers Service Dept. wouldn't sign off one of the Check-points in the Warranty Booklet, because they didn't do the work.

With respect to the subject of the Fumo Valve, I like the quick rush of Hot Oil dumping out. I'd be curious to know how long it takes to drain the Oil, in trade for your hands not getting dirty.

Assuming you had an invoice from the Quickie Lube place, it sounds like the dealer is violating their own terms of warranty since it doesn't say that the dealer must do ALL maintenance. Time to call the Mother Ship, I would think, and escalate this! 3 weeks??? How many Infiniti's are there in Alberta???

At the time I wanted an Oil Change, they were behind 3 weeks. This is because back then, the Dealer was a combo Infiniti/Nissan Dealer. Since then, the Infiniti dept.has built a new facility and now each brand has their own Building, both owned by the same Family.
